Casey and Jaime of Santa Magdalena arrived in Balboa "ready" to jump off on an ocean passage. A bunch of setbacks kept them in Balboa where we had the chance to get to know them and to "buddy boat" around the city, looking for "stuff". One morning early Casey showed up at Carina with a loaf of this yummy bread hot from the oven; we loved it and so will you.
3 1/4 c flour
1 can beer
3 Tbs cane sugar
3 Tbs dark sugar
4 Tbs butter, melted
1 Tbs baking powder
1 tsp salt
In bowl mix flour, sugars, salt and baking powder. Pour in beer, all-at-once with bubbles and stir until just combined (it will be lumpy and sticky). Pour into greased bread pan and sprinkle 2 more Tbs of sugar over the top. Pour evenly melted butter on top of sugar. Bake at 375-400 °F for 30 min until brown and inserted knife comes out clean.
