Leslie was eager to try the Sesame Whole Wheat Crackers Kijro as an appetizer for Thanksgiving dinner in 2013.  To accompany the crackers she made this hummus.    It disappeared quickly, scooped up with the homemade crackers plus sticks of celery and carrot, and slices of local sweet pepper.


2 cups prepared garbanzo beans*

2 Tb. olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

3-4 Tb sesame seeds

juice of 2 small limes

~ 1/2 tsp. salt (to taste)


Add olive oil, sesame seeds and garlic to a small frying pan and cook on low heat until garlic and sesame seeds are slightly browned.   Add these to a small blender or food processor containing garbanzo beans , lime juice and salt.  Blend thoroughly until smooth.  Refrigerate for ca. 2 hours.. 



* Wash, sort to separate damaged beans and cook in pressure cooker for 15-20 minutes.  Release pressure with natural release method.
