Dear Friends;

Sincere apologies for not writing earlier to tell you that we are safe in Fiji. The tsunami generated from the unbelievable earthquake in Japan was barely felt here which we credit to Fiji's extensive reefs.

We were at sea in deep water when the quake occurred and also when the first wave arrived here, but had been alerted by Fiji cell phone by friends both in Savusavu and Arkansas who were anxious to make us aware of the threat.

We are now back in Savusavu and preparing to get underway in a couple of weeks back to Viti Levu and yet another boatyard visit. We still owe you a dispatch telling of our interesting stay at Vurevure bay on Taveuni Island.

Your friends of the yacht Carina,

Philip, Leslie and fat cat, Jake
